Depende de qué tan tacaño seas jjj. No mentira en realidad son casi el mismo radio salvo a diferencias sutiles que en un escenario pueden ser la diferencia de que funcione la red o no.

Características del NETMETAL 5

Lo primero es que el NETMETAL 5 como su nombre lo dice es metálico. La carcasa protege al radio de las ondas electromagnéticas generadas por otros equipos y por tanto es más inmune a ruido.

También es que emite menos ruido porque la carcasa metálica se «come» parte de la radiación. Tiene un puerto SFP que puedes usarlo para pasarle datos a otro radio.

Las imágenes de aquí abajo muestran una combinación muy efectiva que me ha dado excelentes resultados. Netmetal 5 con panel ubnt AC.

Su único problema es el precio. Su valor oscila entre los 150 USD. Cuesta un 40% más que el NETBOX 5.

Como podrán ver en la imagen de abajo este es el tráfico de un netmetal con 86 clientes de 4 a 10mbps cada uno. Artículo completo entra aquí. Sería bueno que lo leas para que entiendas cómo se le puede sacar tanto provecho a un equipo de estos.


En la imagen de aquí abajo puedes ver el tráfico en tiempo de pandemia de ese netmetal. Si eres WISP sabrás que ya todas las horas son picos.

En la siguiente imagen podemos ver cómo se comporta el CPU recordado que uso todas las sectoriales modo router. Ese espacio vacío que tiene en el día de hoy se debió a que el radio se frizó.

Características del NETBOX 5

Tiene prácticamente la mismas características electrónicas del NETMETAL 5. Tienen CPU igual, igual memoria y ambos son AC. Este punto en particular no me llama mucho la atención porque nadie usa radios en 80mhz.

Comprar radios AC para ponerlos a trabajar en 40mhz es un desperdicio de recursos pero imagínate el mercadeo así es que funciona.

Siguiendo con las características del NETBOX 5 es plástico. Esto lo hace especialmente sensible a ruidos ambientales y también a emitir radiación no deseada a otros radios.

Sin embargo cuesta mucho menos que el NETMETAL. Otro punto negativo es que no tiene puerto SFP.

Bueno en realidad su punto fuerte es su precio debido a su fabricación plástica. Cuesta menos fabricarlo y por eso mikrotik lo vende más barato.

No puedo poner imágenes de su comportamiento porque actualmente no tengo equipos de esos en producción pero desde que las tenga entra y actualizo el artículo.

Como de costumbre, voy escribiendo y actualizando hasta terminar el artículo así que entra mañana para ver por donde voy.
