¿Qué son las 4 fases del tráfico de una sectorial? Cómo saber si aguanta más clientes.

ESTE ARTÍCULO ESTÁ SIENDO ESCRITO. VUELVE PARA LEERLO COMPLETO

Yo le llamo «radiografía» porque al igual que un común ciudadano ve un reguero de blancos y negros un radiólogo ve mucha información.

De la misma forma un patrón de consumo de una sectorial para un usuario común es algo sin sentido para un buen WISP con experiencia es algo que le brinda mucha información.

Los conceptos que yo explicaré en este artículo son interpretaciones personales  basadas en mi experiencia manejando tráfico. No son guía definitiva ni mucho menos reglas que se pueden seguir como 100% válidas. Cada lector que analice y ponga en práctica estas teorías.

¿Dónde ves estos gráficos?

Para activar estos gráficos debes de activar la función en el mikrotik de graphing. Si usas en una misma interfaz muchas sectoriales tienes que elegir los segmentos de red.

No te voy a enseñar a configurar esto porque en internet hay cientos de videos y tutoriales donde puedes aprender. Lo que NO aparece es cómo interpretar las gráficas para convertirlas en información útil.

Cómo se ve una gráfica normal

Como de costumbre y sin importar tu zona horaria a las 6 de la mañana empieza a subir el tráfico de forma exponencial. Cada hora que pasa es más trafico hasta que llega a un límite que la gráfica parece llegar a un tope.

Luego una tendencia a la baja en 2 y a partir de cierta hora remonta con tendencia al alza en 3 hasta llegar a un punto máximo ligeramente superior al primero. Luego de cierta hora se desploma el tráfico.

Como puedes ver, tiene 4 fases. 1,2,3,4. Cada fase será similar en todas las sectoriales de todas las redes wisp unas un poco más pronunciadas que otras pero es básicamente similar.

Vamos a explicar detalladamente las 4 fases de tráfico de una sectorial (y por extensión de la red completa)

FASE 1 El tráfico empieza a subir a las 6 de la mañana. Empiezan las personas a levantarse a tomarse su café y a revisar las redes sociales. A las 8 de la mañana ya el tráfico empieza a despegar y no para de crecer hasta las 12, 1 de la tarde.

Hace un pico y retrocede con una ligera tendencia a la baja. No necesariamente es a esa precisa hora depende de la zona donde vendas pero tiene un comportamiento similar.

FASE 2 En esta fase el tráfico entra en un ligero retroceso. Algunas sectoriales casi es imperceptible y en otras es muy notorio. Esta tendencia bajista es mas acentuada en zonas urbanas.

El punto es que por lo general de 2 a 6 de la tarde el tráfico desciende ligeramente.

FASE 3 Esta fase empieza por lo general a las 6 de la tarde. En este punto el tráfico vuelve a subir y por lo regular sobre pasa el pico de la fase 1-2 pero muchas veces no llega a superarlo.

Lo importante es que se ve una cresta donde se puede apreciar que las personas llegaron a su casa. Como la probabilidad de que estén en su casa aumenta también lo hace el tráfico.

FASE 4 Luego de las 10 de la noche la gente empieza a acostarse y como es normal el tráfico empieza a descender. Normalmente el tráfico sigue descendiendo hasta llegar a un suelo durante la madrugada.

En mi caso este suelo es variable porque yo no limito la velocidad durante la madrugada. Dejo todos los clientes ilimitados de 11:50 hasta las 8:30.

Ejemplos

Aquí abajo podemos ver otra sectorial donde se puede apreciar los 4 estados de tráfico. Donde está la flecha es que abro la velocidad a todos los clientes y los gamers aprovechan para descargar todo su contenido dejándome la mañana libre para los negocios.

Los lectores más viejos (cuando publicaba en rm) sabrá que limito la velocidad solo de día. En la madrugada abro a todos los clientes sin limite. Fíjense cómo en la madrugada los gamers se ponen a bajar contenido. (ver flecha)

Bien, otro ejemplo. En esta de aquí abajo podemos ver el mismo fenómeno de los 4 estados del tráfico. También donde se ve la flecha podemos notar el pico de la madrugada ya que de 12PM a 8AM no hay quien. Aquí mas detalles.

Otro ejemplo de una zona donde tengo 100 clientes pasando por un router de control. Aquí vemos las 4 fases bien definidas.
La fase 2 es casi imperceptible en esta sectorial pero está ahí. Si te pones a observarla varios días vas a ver que estará presente.

Como se ve una gráfica anormal

En que en el momento de tomar esa radiografía yo tenía la ligera sospecha de que 95 clientes de más de 4 megas tenían que consumir unos 110mbps en hora pico. Más detalles aquí

Esta sectorial se encuentra en estado saturado. No cumple con las 4 fases del trafico. No tiene picos de tráfico parece una mesa.

Empecé a notar que se estaba «agachando» durante la pandemia y su gráfico empezó a verse como una mesa🤔. Pasó de gráfico serrucho a un gráfico tipo mesa como la imagen de arriba. Antes de que se me olvide, uso todas las sectoriales modo router. Aquí la razón.
